Lunar New Year

I was able to participate in the Lunar New Year Festival this year because the Mira Mesa Town Council helped me out. It felt good to do some art in an environment where there was so much life and positivity.

Here I am with Ted, Pam, and Spam from the Town Council. It was definitely great to reconnect with some community members.
Ted saw that there was an extra booth next to the Town Council booth so he made some magic work and I was able to get one! Here we threw a pop up last minute booth to do and sell some art (also I was able to sell my children’s books and I was able to advertise my art classes). My little cousin Juju and my niece Riley helped me with the booth.
This cutie was my first customer! Her mom wanted to get her the Kulam book, but she ended up choosing the Rolly Yells Kapre book herself.
I got to doodle this while I was in the booth.
My handsome model.
I ran into my old friend Ann and her lovely family who bought some of my children’s books. ?
Ann’s cute kids.
Another lovely customer who asked Juju which book was best. Joke’s on her because they’re all good.
This is the beginnings of a pig drawing wall that we put up. Here are some high energied youth and Juju having fun.
More pig contributors
The pig drawings attracted a lot of contributors.
Teamwork!
Some would pass by and express their joy at some of the unique pigs.
Two buds that were hesitant at first and then got drawing.
A dad teaches his kid how to draw a pig.
A cool officer joined in on the fun.
Success!

It was a little cold, but a super fun event. My brother came by early morning with Remus and got us some potatoes on a stick and Vietnamese coffee mmm. My Mom and Dad came by in different times to support and of course my mom got us more food. Juju and Riley did a good job handling the booth. I was able to meet and re-meet people in my town and I was jazzed that I was able to advertise my classes! My mom was very excited that the Barona tent was giving raffle tickets or something which was cutes. Alekhya finished her homework and met up and even a friend of ours, Stephanie turned up and we got to hang out a bit. I was tired and cold by the end of it and overall I had a gooood time. Happy New Year! ?
