I couldn’t sleep on my first day in Japan so I stayed outside and did some painting.
I made this ink practice of Irene, a model from France for practice before my trip to Japan. I am expecting to draw and paint a lot in Japan since it will be my first time.
I taught my student how to paint their pup! This one was a lot of fun because our subject was a very cute model.
I have been teaching my young artists how to do sculpture and I love seeing their creations come to life! Look how cute this fox is.

I did a little Plein-air painting to get ready for my Japan trip in Jan. It was a lovely day and two of my art friends joined me.
I always ask my students to practice and we share what we have been doing outside of class. It’s important to cultivate good art habits not only in class, but in our everyday life. I like drawing specimens once in awhile at the Nat.
I try to make a point to do art for myself so I don’t feel burnt out from only doing art for others or work. I think it’s important as an artist to keep art feeling fun otherwise what’s the point.
It was so nice to see my old students for a fun birthday painting party at the park in Mira Mesa.
We had a fun paint party in the studio for Joyce’s Birthday Party. We had a lot of fun painting sea turtles.
